Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum - Breezy

After the Humongous success of Soodhu Kavvum, which marked a remarkable shift in the way Tamil films get perceived and executed,Director Nalan Kumarasamy, once again, fulfills the expectations of the audiences, through Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum(KaKaPo).

Kakapo, which is based on the South Korean Classic,My Dear Desperado,to say,is a Rom-Com in a sense,as Nalan, who proved it big time in Soodhu Kavvum, once again brings his mind-boggling narrative skills to the fore.It takes extraordinary thinking and minute attention-to-detail to keep the normal fan's eyes transfixed to the screen, without any interruptions, which Nalan achieves with Utmost elan. The story is simple and straightforward, but the treatment is so refreshing, that you don't feel bad even if Vijay sethupathy gets beaten up in the bar in a particular scene, and on the contrary,he is greeted with  raucous cheers as he picks up his coolers and gets out.Magic!!!

Vijay Sethupathy, time and again, proves his mettle as a matured actor,as he underplays the role of "Kathir",as if he's walking on water!Though one might get the feeling that such stereotypical roles get thrusted upon him more often than not, this man treats as if it is a cakewalk! He has that peculiar charisma and fantastic screen presence, which only few growing artists manage to pull off.Added to this his mastery over the language, leaves the viewers in splits,as he effortlessly tickles the funny bones!

Madonna Sebastian - The "Premam" girl, definitely deserves credit,as she has performed to the fullest of her potential.Be it the smile, which sure has the men go crazy about,or in emotional sequences, she scores admirably well.Nalan has to be lauded, for providing her with a meaty role,as she performs at par with Vijay, who is a more seasoned actor. Also her lip-sync is almost perfect, making it much easy for the dubbing artistes.

The support Cast, lead by Samuthirakani, who is becoming the "Godfather" of supporting roles in Tamil cinema in recent times, once again does his part, providing the thrilling moments,in between the romantic interludes. Also the characters who played Madonna's father and Vijay's boss, have to be patted in the back, for their natural and intruiging performances. There is not much scope for technical aspects in this movie, though Editing and Cinematography departments, have given whatt is required.

All said and done,Nalan Kumarasamy, who left a great void, after the unprecedented success f his debut venture, comes back with all guns blazing. Most importantly,at times, when many tamil stories, are being loosely ar heavily copied from Foreign films, his intention of bagging the official remake rights from the original film, that too at a price of 40 lakhs, speaks volumes about the man's determination and hunger to make movies, which stand the test of time,Be it the initial sequences, where the leads, who seem to be opposite poles, slightly take a liking to each other,or the scene where Vijay explains about his background to Madonna's parents, everywhere there are pieces of Nalan's masterpieces. His immaculate screenplay and association with Santosh Narayanan is sure to be Folklore someday! His humor sense is exemplary,as hilarious scenes, through the movie make you go berserk!Sanosh Narayanan, once again unites with new age directors, providing the touches wherever necessary, elevating the movie's likening factor by the viewers. How would Tamil Cinema be,had this man not emerge on to the forefront,as he competes with Legends,in terms of Background Score.Legend(s) in the Making !!

KaKaPo - Nalan displays his prowess big time, and best wishes to him,for fulfilling his desire of working with his favourite actor - Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu,in a full fledged comedy movie!

Can't wait,Nalan!!!!!

Room - Battle Of Survival!!

We do not realize the importance of freedom, until it is snatched away from us under extraordinary circumstances, leading to aghast change in lifestyle and the way in which we perceive people around us.

"Room" is exactly the kind of movie which certainly would have a grinding efect on the mind of the viewers-both physically and mentally,as the director Lenny Abrahamson, based on the novel of the same name, by Emma Donoughe, has woven a neat script running along a  fine line of emotions. The initial sequences portray the secluded life that both JoyNewsome(Brie Larson) and JackNewsome (JacobTremblay)follow,as they are held captive by Old Nick(Sea Bridgers),who kidnapped Joy while she was 17,and since been repeatedly abusing her sexually. The efforts took upon by Joy to get them out of that room, and the following mental trauma that takes place, forms the core crux of the story.

"Brie Larson",who recieived the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role ,in addition to BAFTA and Golden Globe awards for 2015 ,certainly has provided a breakthrough performance,as she emotes beautifully and provides life to the character of Joy.Be it the Agony of being held up captive and being tortured to hell,or the happiness in seeing her child learning about the nuances of life, this talismanic actress, just makes the Audience go awestruck with her captivating performance,

Though being a victim of brutal physical punishment, she brings the mother in her to the  forefront,as she thinks for the betterment of her child's future,as she patiently answers all the questions of Jack, who is completely deprived of the outside world, and is allowed to believe that only the things inside the "room" are for real, and all others are just immaterial,Through her continued efforts, she finally makes it to her home, but as she finds,Life just got tougher, her Mental Trauma just increases,as her family is not in such supporting state. She scores heavily in these sequences, and shows exemplary and top notch acting skills.Achieving such greatness at the age of 26,is no mean feat!Hats off!!!

"Jacob Tremblay",as Jack, certainly makes you feel for him,as he exudes innocence and pity,as he is grabbed of his childhood, and his world is just confined within the four walls of the room.Though he remains optimistic, and helps in the rescue of his mom.Though befuddled and smitten by the new environment and "REAL" things, other than what he saw inisde the room,he adjusts to his new environment, admirably,Though his mom is going through an awful lot,he stays with her,and eggs her on,through his  childish demeanor. As his mom tries for suicide,he asks his  grandma to cut his hair, and send it to his mom in the hospital.Later,Joy reveals that, that incident spurred her to live on,which provides the emotional connect with the audience. He has won many awards as Best young and upcoming actor in various guild communities.

All other support actors like Joen Allen(Grandma) and William H.Macy(Grandpa) are to be lauded for their realistic acting skills,Such a intriguing plot, requires skillful camera work, and Danny Cohen, has
certainly captured every frame of the" room",in the perfect manner,

Finally,as both Joy and Jack revisit the room,Jack feels it's not the same, and he yearns to be again there,This would be etched in the memory of audiences for a long time.

The Room - Perfect for Indian Audience!!!!!!!!
